ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — A man accused of killing a Georgia father of five in 2021 has entered a plea agreement.
Bruce Weems entered a plea agreement in a Henry County courtroom, which reduced his original charge of murder to manslaughter.
Weems is accused of fatally shooting Willie Davis Jr., of Fort Gaines, Georgia, at the Girard Court Apartments in Abbeville where police say Weems shot Davis Jr. multiple times.
Following the shooting, police began a four-hour manhunt in a heavily wooded area in Henry County after Weems allegedly took off on foot.
At the time of the shooting Davis Jr. was living with his girlfriend at the Girard Court Apartments in Abbeville. His girlfriend’s daughter was in a relationship with Weems.

On September 28, 2021, police say Weems was arrested for shooting into an occupied residence but later bonded out of jail on October 5, 2021.
Weems is facing a 20-year prison sentence which begins Monday, January 30.
