TROY, Ala. (WDHN) — There were no injuries reported after shots were fired during a Wednesday night event on Troy’s campus.

Troy University Police responded to a report of a fight and shots fired during a student event on the Shackelford Quad at around 9:41 p.m., according to a statement from Troy University. No injuries were reported.

Witnesses reported around two to three shots being fired by an unknown person. Shell casings were found on the ground, but police found no one with injuries and no evidence of impacts from rounds fired.

After officers arrived on the scene, they found no active threat on campus.

Troy University’s police chief issued this statement on the case:

Our campus is known as a very safe campus, and we strive to keep that reputation intact. Instances like this, while terrible when they happen, are very few and far between on our campus. We are asking for help from the public both on and off-campus to please provide us any information they may have in reference to the identification of the persons involved in the fight and/or the person or persons with firing rounds on campus.”
