FORT RUCKER, Ala. (WDHN) — A Fort Rucker official has commented on the murder case of the Fort Rucker soldier allegedly killed by a fellow soldier.

Earlier this month, advanced individual training soldier Private Brian Jones Jr. was charged with murder in the death of Private Abdul Latifu of New York City.

Base officials have said that Latifu died during an altercation on the base between the two men.

Deputy to the Garrison Commander John Watson, would not go into the case but, he told the Military Affairs Committee of the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce that the base has received a tremendous amount of moral support from the community.

Previously, Fort Rucker officials say the Military Police and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division are handling the prosecution.
