MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WDHN) — A 25-year-old Samson man receives sentencing after being convicted of child pornography.

On Friday, December 16, Harley Dakota Wambles of Samson, received a 72-month federal prison sentence for possession of child pornography. According to documents, the judge also ordered Wambles to serve five years on supervised release and pay $18,000 in restitution to the six victims involved.

According to court records, in 2019, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received information that images of child pornography were being uploaded to the instant messaging application, Snapchat. The NCMEC informed the FBI of the report where they were able to identify Wambles’ IP address associated with the uploads. Agents examined all electronic devices belonging to Wambles and found numerous images that contained child pornography.

This case was investigated by the FBI, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the NCMEC. Assistant United States Attorney J. Patrick Lamb prosecuted the case.
