DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — Two Dothan men and one woman were arrested and charged after an investigation into shots fired call in a Dothan neighborhood.
On Tuesday, March 14, at approximately 5:20 p.m., Dothan Communications received a call regarding shots fired in the area of South Alice Street and West Selma Street.
Officers quickly responded to the scene and began canvassing the area, but no suspects were located at that time.
According to Dothan Police, the Dothan Police Department’s Gun Investigation Unit (GIU) responded and identified a residence in the 1600 block of South Alice Street where a fight had occurred in the yard involving multiple people minutes before the shots fired call came in.
On Wednesday, March 15, Dothan Police’s GIU unit executed a search warrant at a home in the 1600 block of South Alice Street.
Police say that during the search, contact was made with Lashawn Shiver and Tracy Porter and officers found four handguns, three high-capacity magazines, ammunition, synthetic marijuana, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
According to police, while on the scene, Desmond Griffin, arrived and began interfering with investigators, and after officers attempted to make him leave multiple times, Griffin was placed under arrest.
Shiver, 43 years old, was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and has a pending charge of Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm.
Porter, 53 years old, was charged with Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Obstructing Governmental Operations.
Griffin, 32 years old, was charged with Obstructing Governmental Operations.
The case is still under investigation and more charges are forthcoming.
