TROY, Ala. (WDHN) — A Troy woman has been arrested after alleged elder abuse and neglect.

On Tuesday, September 12th around 2:00 p.m. officers responded to Troy Health and Rehab after reports of an assault, according to Troy Police Department.

When authorities arrived, they met with management at the facility who notified them that an employee had physically assaulted a resident. Officers made contact with the employee, Brianna Leanate Cowart-Birckett, 27, of Troy, and transported her to the Troy Police Department, reports show.

Cowart-Birckett was interviewed by investigators and a warrant was obtained for her arrest. She was processed through the Troy City Jail and transferred to the Pike County Jail where she is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Elder Abuse and Neglect is a Class B Felony.
