PIKE COUNTY, Ala (WDHN)— Three teens have been arrested after a 12-year-old was shot and killed earlier this week.
On Tuesday, May 30, Troy Police Officers rushed to the 900 Block of Pike County Lake Road on reports of a man shot.
According to Troy Police, when officers arrived, they found 12-year-old Jaquez Mirkel Wynn dead from a gunshot wound.
Several juveniles were on the scene at the time and they were transported to the Troy Police Department.
Officers were able to locate the gun that killed Wynn and determined it was reported stolen from a vehicle in Troy on May 29, 2023, according to police.
Police say after the investigation, a 15-year-old male was arrested and charged with one count of Reckless Murder and one count of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, a 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with one count of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, and a 16-year-old who was not at the scene of the crime but turned himself in later has been charged with one count of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle.
All three teens are being held at a juvenile detention facility pending their court hearings.
The case is still under investigation and due to the ages of the suspects, Troy Police will release no further information.
