DALEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — First responders from surrounding areas were in Daleville early Saturday morning for Patriot Day.

A ceremony was held at the Cultural Arts Center to commemorate the tragic day in the U.S. known as 9/11 where over 2,000 people were killed and 10,000 injured in New York.

Those attending the ceremony heard from speakers recapping that day vividly.

But it was not solely all about the tragic day, the ceremony was also a way people can show appreciation for local law enforcement.

“Sometimes you need to use something like this as a focal point to again remind people that people are running towards dangers while others are running away from it,” Organizer Travis Parker said.

Parker said he wants to thank the organizations that helped make this event a success.

There will be other 9/11 events throughout the weekend.
