Daleville hosts Scottish Highland Games and Heritage Festival

DALEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — Daleville hosted the 5th Annual Southeast Alabama Highland Games and Scottish Heritage Festival on Saturday.

This was Daleville’s first time hosting this event, and among the many traditional games and garments worn, one couple WDHN spoke to wants everyone to celebrate the culture that the event holds.

“It’s very important to know our heritage and where we came from to understand how we got here,” Johnstone Clan member, Becky Parr said. “In today’s society, we are from so many different places all over the world, and with the technology we have, we can trace these ancestors and learn more about them.”

The Highland Games are part of a network of many Scottish cultural events, the next of which, will take place near Stone Mountain, Georgia in the Fall.
