DALEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — One of the volunteers at Choppper’s BBQ still put the community first outside of his daily job.

Normally, Jeffery Jones is an EMS Rescue Liteaunant and patrol Sargeant with the Daleville Department of Public Safety.

On Thanksgiving Day, Jones makes it his priority to still be there for the community by helping choppers barbecue serve Thanksgiving meals on his scheduled off day.

Jones said he exists to serve people and he hopes this great deed will instill a message to his family.

“I’m trying to teach my kids the servant’s heart to teach them its thanksgiving and living life is not about you it’s about what you give to everybody else and not expect nothing in return, just to give,” Sgt. Jones said.

Jones said he’s back in his police uniform Friday but he will still look for other opportunities to help his community.
