DCS gearing up for its summer food bus program

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan City Schools’ Child Nutrition Program will soon kick off its second summer food bus program.

The program will start at Dothan High School Monday morning when participants show off the bus’ decoration which was created by students and reveal its name.

The bus will make ten stops around Dothan to apartments and mobile home parks to provide free breakfast and lunch Monday through Thursday to children up to 18 years old.

Thursday, children will receive three meals to last through the weekend.

“Food insecurity has been a major thing even before COVID-19 so making sure every child has a meal, a nutritious meal so they can continue on with their day. It’s something very important to Dothan City Schools,” Public Information Officer Meagan Dorsey said.

More information on route stops can be found on the Dothan City Schools website and Facebook page.
