DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — One year ago, we informed you about the idea of a new million-dollar animal shelter that would be built along Hartford Highway.
The plan is not dead the city has purchased land on Highway 52 for the new animal shelter, but the ground has not yet been broken.
The Dothan Animal Shelter board has been elected and some spots are still being filled because people moved away.
According to the District 5 commissioner and vice-chair of the Wiregrass Pet and Adoption Center, plenty of organizations and sponsors are eager to get involved but the biggest hold up at the moment is finding an executive director.
“We’ve got to find that right fit and the right person. The funding is coming in you’ll hear a lot more you’ll see a lot more in the public and fundraising efforts once we get a person at the helm to direct the entire process,” Beth Kenward said.
Kenward says you’re interested you can contact her personally with your resume as the project is moving forward.
