Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce works towards a new business for Dothan

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — As part of the city of Dothan’s “Grow Dothan” campaign, the chamber of commerce currently has plans to bring another business into the city.

“We have an opportunity to get a new development there in what is referred to as the “K-Mart south” development center with a new retailer,” President of the Dothan Area Chamber Of Commerce Matt Parker said.

The retailer is “Simply 10” an Alabama-based women’s fashion retailer.

It will be located at the shopping center behind Patricia Lanes on the south side of Dothan.

It will be a 6,000 square-foot building where you can get women’s apparel at discount prices.

If all goes as planned, it will be approved at a Dothan City Commission meeting in the next couple of weeks.

“We think we have good support, good focus to recharge and reinvigorate the corridors in our city,” said Parker. “A lot of development out there right now. Not only from a retail commercial standpoint but industrial. We have a regional vision so we are working with our multi-county areas to enhance economic development opportunities. We are finishing up some projects there. That we are ready to announce, they have been long projects.”

Also, If you have driven around Dothan recently, you’ve probably seen road construction at some point or another that inevitably slows down your commutes, but as far as Parker is concerned, it doesn’t bother him.

“We love orange barrels, yea we do,” Said Parker, “We love road improvements cause that’s more capacity for growth so it’s very exciting. We are very excited about the future.”

Parker says the “Simply 10” women’s clothing store should be ready to open around the end of the first quarter of 2022.
