Dothan Civic Center holds first concert since pandemic frenzy

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — Friday night the Dothan Civic Center held its first concert of the year since the pandemic.

Since COVID, many people haven’t been able to attend any concerts. Fans lined up to see country singer Travis Tritt and couldn’t wait. Director Marshall Perry over the Civic Center & Opera house explained they were still following CDC guidelines.

“This concert is completely sold out, we’re very excited about that and everything was set up pre COVID as far as restricted seating, social distancing and groups of four seats,” Perry said.

Perry said they expected just under 1,000 people to attend.

“It’s the first time travis has been back with us in five years,” Perry said. “And it’s a special show because it’s his acoustic performance and these are his real travis tritt fans.”

Many fans have been eager to get outside.

“To be able to get out just and about to do things with people so and just see other faces you know besides him and my children” Casta Williams, attendee said.

Williams said it’s refreshing to have this much excitement after the pandemic. Fans just grabbed their favorite travis gear and headed out.

“I had to have me a travis shirt before I seen him in concert,” Sheila Woods, atender said. “It feels great and be able to enjoy yourself and have a little fun.”
