DOTHAN, Ala.– On Monday, the Dothan Exchange Club honored local unsung heroes with a Book of Golden Deeds Award Luncheon.
Members of the Dothan police Department, the Dothan Fire Department, and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office received awards honoring their service to the community and were also provided lunch.
“Usually its people not getting acknowledged and fly under the radar. They make our community better and make it a better place for all,” said Pam Miles.
A check presentation was also held. A total of $31,000 was awarded to be given to the Exchange Center for Child Abuse Prevention to support their work with children and families in the Wiregrass.
Firefighter/ Law Enforcement Officers of the Year Awards:
Dothan Firefighter of the Year: Preston Banister
Dothan Police Department, Officer of the Year: Jason Neal
Houston County Sheriff’s Deputy of the Year: Anthony Hall
