DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Runners in Dothan hit the pavement early Saturday morning to support the Dothan Police S.W.A.T. Team.

At eight o’clock sharp, runners took off on the 15th Annual ‘Trot with S.W.A.T.’ walk/run to raise funds for the Circle City’s S.W.A.T. team, including protective gear, training, and other necessities.

A captain on the Dothan police force that has helped organize this event every year says this event serves them, as well as the community.

“This year we did pretty good, we had a late start in trying to get this thing together, but our sponsors that are with us every year did a pretty good job,” Dothan Police Captain Jason Penn said. “They hung with us and we appreciate their support. It’s a good turnout, and we enjoy being able to interact with the community.”

Next year the event is set to take place on the third Saturday in September.
