Dothan man caught in house fire, quarter of his body burned

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Early Tuesday morning, a fire and possibly an explosion, in Dothan completely destroyed a home, leaving one resident with severe burn injuries.

The Dothan Fire Department were dispatched to a home off the 100 Block East Spring Street where they found one person with 24% of his body covered in burns. EMS quickly put the resident on a stretcher and was taken to a local burn center.

At the same time, firefighters tackled the fire and were able to put it out, but what caused it is still unknown.

“We’re continuing to investigate the fire, we don’t know the reason for the explosion or the fire so we’re continuing to monitor that, investigate it and hopefully have an answer out there in the next couple days for sure,” Dothan Fire Chief, Larry Williams said.
