UPDATE: Dothan Police respond to shooting near downtown Wednesday night

DOTHAN, Ala.  (WDHN) – The Dothan Police Department is currently investigating the shooting on West Adams Street on Wednesday night.

Sgt. Tim Mullis has informed WDHN that the victim was shot in the upper torso area and suffered non-life threating injuries. The victim has been treated and released from a local hospital.

Dothan police are currently following all leads in hopes of an arrest.

Police were dispatched to the 200 block of West Adams Street with an initial report of a victim being shot in the chest.

Numerous first responders are on the scene, including Dothan Police, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Dothan Fire, and an ambulance.

WDHN’s Paige Weeks witnessed a person being loaded onto a stretcher.
