Dothan Rotary Club turning pinkies purple for End World polio day


DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Purple pinkies for Polio is a project Rotary International started in an effort to eradicate polio.

On October 18th, the Dothan Rotary Club will host a fundraising event to end polio.

Partnering with Dunkin Donuts, you can pre order a 10 count of donuts for $25 that will generate $187.50 in donations. When vaccinating millions of children in countries polio still remains high,

They document the children that have received a shot with a the “Purple” pinkie, thus where the name for the project came from. Pre-orders will be accepted until October 11th.

“To raise awareness you know I think most people, who are maybe over 50 know someone you know who’s had this disease and it killed and crippled millions before the vaccine,” President of Dothan Rotary, Sheila Azar said.
