DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — It was a somber day in the Wiregrass as a ceremony was held to both honor and bury a young Dothan man who was killed in his home one week ago.
A family and community laid to rest a man on Saturday who is gone but not forgotten. Sincere Tyson was killed on October 9 when an unknown assailant broke into his Dothan apartment and shot him while he was likely asleep.
Despite his tragic end, Tyson’s aunt, Amy Hendrix, remembers the positivity he brought to her life.
“He was the sunshine, the light, the smile,” Hendrix said. “No matter what was going on, he made us laugh.”
With family and friends in attendance, one of Tyson’s former roommates spoke about his personality and the times they shared.
“Sincere ain’t nothing but a loving person, he loved everyone,” Antwon Williams said. “He was the joy of the room, he kept everyone going, he never was a sad person. If you was sad, he was sad, but mostly he was happy for you and going to overcome everything.”
And although Sincere’s killer has not been found, his family and friends are praying for justice and answers.
“This don’t need to get crazy this don’t need to get out of hand,” Hendrix said. “Whoever you are, I just ask mercy on your soul, for something so senseless. Just please help us out, please.”
If you have any information that could help in Sincere’s case, please call the Dothan Police Department at (334) 793-0215.
