DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — During Thursday night’s special-called school board meeting, board members voted to make interim superintendent Dr. Dennis Coe the school system’s official superintendent.
Coe has been the acting superintendent since Dr. Phyllis Edwards resigned in September 2020.
“I’m relieved not only for myself and my family, but also for our staff,” Coe said. “They’ve been apprehensive for the last months not knowing what direction we’re going to take. So to have something permanent in place, I think it will be a relief for them and we can move forward now as a team and continue to progress the district forward.”
Coe served as DCS’s acting superintendent for six months.
