GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN) — The school system in Geneva County received a grant to benefit its kindergarten program.

The school system has two first Pre-K classes at each elementary school.

Geneva County Elementary was one of seven elementary schools in the state awarded $60,000 that will be used to buy resources and materials for early childhood to be incorporated into kindergarten.

This will help work on the social and emotional side of the children, so it’s not solely about academics.

Superintendent Becky Birdsong believes this will help get the children ready for first grade and she hopes her other schools will look into this opportunity.
