ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — A church in Enterprise is lending a helping hand to the House of Ruth.
Johns Chapel AME sponsored a barbecue Boston Butt sandwich sale in an effort to raise $3,000 for the domestic violence service.
The House of Ruth is a safe shelter for domestic violence and sexual assault victims from the surrounding nine counties.
House of Ruth director Angela Underwood said she’s elated to see the Wiregrass people and the church helping them because the money used will go toward resources grants cant cover.
“Those grants are for direct services only,” She said. “It does not help with medical expenses for those clients who are injured, it does not help with getting their license which they left without an ID it does not help with medicine, or clothes or their children needs they come with nothing.”
