DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Last week WDHN spoke to both the mother and grandmother of Desmond Karl Castillo, the three month old baby police say was murdered by his father.
While grandmother Karen Nolen believes the baby’s father Rolando Castillo is to blame, her daughter Karla says Karen is the killer.
Now, nearly a week after WDHN’s interview with Karla, Karen is putting out signs of Desmond around Dothan.
She says it’s to keep Desmond’s memory alive and to encourage justice.
“This is all I have left of Desmond,” Nolen said. “I just want people to help me remember him and help get the word out. This baby would be four years old September 26 and we still have no justice.”
During WDHN’s recent interview with Nolen, she responded to her daughter’s accusation that Desmond died from injuries he suffered while in his grandmother’s care.
“It was just unbelievable,” Nolen said. “There’s no way I would harm this baby. If I was going to harm this baby, why am I out here fighting for it and calling everybody to get this case solved? If I did this, I would be on the back burner trying to hide. I just want to find out who and why this baby was murdered.”
