Feed shortage leave farmers with no mill

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Piggly wiggly‘s Feed and Seed is known here in the Wiregrass when it comes to farming.

They have dog food, chicken food, feed for cattle, horses, goats, llama and many other animal feeds.

However, because of the pandemic, they’ve had issues getting certain ingredients to help farmers get products to their mill.

Assistant store manager Jason Ream said this has taken a toll on their customers.

“It’s more frustrating on the customers end because they see we’re getting certain things in stock but hey what I normally feed isn’t showing up why aren’t you worried?,” Ream said. “Well it’s on order but we can’t get in from the manufacture.”

In result, manufacturers are frustrated because they can’t get certain ingredients to mix the feeds. However, to combat this problem Feed & Seed is working to find new alternatives such as finding new sources for the feeds they are trying to get.
