GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN)—Geneva Mayor David Hayes and the city council say progress is being made
for a downtown community park.

The facility will be located on South Commerce Street at a site that used to be home to a textile plant.

Mayor Hayes says it will be a “green space with a splash pad”, an amphitheater, playground, and
walking trail.

Currently, young families have to travel 18-to-20 miles to play at a park
in another town.

Van Heusen park is being made possible through mainly private donations.

Mayor Hayes hopes the park can be completed by later this year.
