Dothan, Ala. (WDHN) — Healthcare workers have had to work longer hours and more shifts during the pandemic, a local organization is providing those workers with gifts to show they are appreciated.
Snacks, drinks, and small hygiene products are just a few types of items the Dothan Rotary Club will be putting into baskets to give to local healthcare workers.
“Rotary is about service above self, and so during this time when we hear that our healthcare workers are working so hard and extra hours and there is shortage of healthcare,” President of the Dothan Rotary Club Sheila Azar said. “We wanted to do something to help out, to make things a little bit easier and better for them.”
Dothan Rotary Club got this idea from a Birmingham Rotary Club, who were able to make 2,000 baskets for healthcare workers. Dothan Rotary Club is now taking part to make baskets for both Southeast Health and for Flowers hospital and they are hoping other local rotary clubs take part as well.
“And at least share them the idea and see if they want to do it,” said Dothan Rotary Club Member, Walter Hill.
Hill also says that through these baskets they want to tell the local healthcare workers thank you and they appreciate everything they have done for the community.
“That this is small small token of appreciation and even though we wont be able to do one for every healthcare worker out there,” said Hill, ‘I know that the ones who receive them will feel appreciated.”
If you want to donate to this cause you can find a member of the Dothan Rotary Club to contribute to the baskets and show your appreciation for local healthcare workers.
