Gulfarium’s Baby Dolphin Has a Name!

Ft. Walton Beach, Fla – June 16, 2015 – The animal family at Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park recently expanded with the birth of a female Atlantic bottlenose dolphin on April 29, 2015. Now just over a month later, Will Merrill, president of the Gulfarium. is proud to announce her name — Kaya.

While the moniker has several associations, in Japanese the name means “flower,” a nod to Kaya’s mother, Lily, named for the Easter lily flower. Spelled alternately, Kaia in Hawaiian means “the sea.”

“Like many others in the community, I’ve been coming to the Gulfarium for decades and have enjoyed getting to know the dolphins, particularly Delilah, the matriarch,” says Merrill. “Now she’s a grandmother to Kaya, it’s incredible to see three generations of dolphins.”

Visitors to the Gulfarium can see Kaya through underwater viewing windows and can learn about her during daily dolphin shows. For more information or to purchase general admission, visit or call 850-243-9046.
