DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Some residents got to fill up their candy buckets a little early this year.

As they attended the 2022 Dothan Witches Ride.

This is the first time the event has been held in Dothan.

Women from around the Wiregrass dressed up as their favorite witch or put on their best Halloween costume and threw out candy to anyone who had a sweet tooth.

The ride took place on the surrounding streets of Solomon Park in Dothan.

Women were riding in golf carts, walking, and even riding bikes.

Organizers say they were amazed at the number of witches who flew in.

“We are blown away by the support we’ve received from our sponsors to our participants, and even just people who are here today to celebrate and watch the parade,” Co-Chair, Francis-Arden Purvis said. “We are just very excited that we were able to get this group together and hopefully start something that for years to come Dothan can look forward to.”

All proceeds from Sunday’s Witch Ride went to the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center.

Organizers hope to hold this event next year, with an even bigger turnout.
