HARTFORD, Ala. (WDHN) — Hartford’s James S. Radford Recreational Park is in need of some facility upgrades.
Officials say the basketball and tennis courts are cracked, goals are missing nets, and the playground is in need of attention.
“We’re looking to improve the playground just because after school it’s a big hit for our kids,” said Hartford Recreational Director Landon Lindsay. “Get the kids outdoors, let them play. I think we need to have the best facilities that we can.”
So how much would these repairs cost? According to Lindsay, it will be around $250,000. That leads to the question, how will Hartford pay for this?
“We’re looking into some grant opportunities to maybe further our basketball courts here for just leisure activity,” Lindsay said.
So what is the city’s goal in this?
“Our goal is to get people out here at the park and to invite our kids in and to also participate in our recreation, our sports,” Lindsay said. “We just got to get them out and get them outdoors and let it happen from there.”
