Hartford PD enforcing golf cart ordinance

News

HARTFORD, Ala. (WDHN) — The Hartford Police Department has immediately started enforcing the golf cart law.

Alabama prohibits golf carts, ATV’S, UTV’S, and even lawnmowers from using state highways and city streets.

In Hartford, there have been several complaints about people using these vehicles on the roadways and owners carrying small children on them.

Chief Annie Ward says if you’re caught by law enforcement, you can expect some consequences.

“There are numerous equipment violations they could be cited for improper tires, no registration, no insurance, no turn signals, improper lighting their vehicle could be towed or the golf cart could be towed,” Chief Ward said. “We’re trying to prevent all of that that’s why we’re notifying the public.”

Chief Ward says you’ll be issued a warning if caught within the 30-day grace period.
