HENRY COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Starting next week, four law enforcement officials from Henry County will participate in a mental health awareness training in Dothan.

Two Henry County Sheriff’s deputies, one Abbeville police officer, and one Headland police officer will attend.

This will allow the officers to become fully certified to allow them to immediately transport citizens, who may be mentally challenged or going through a mental health crisis to a treatment facility, so the patient can receive the needed care more quickly.

The training will take place from October 17th through October 20th at the Wiregrass Public Safety Center in Dothan.

Commissioners say they are hopeful that the Crisis Diversion Center will soon be operational in Dothan and will be beneficial to them and surrounding Wiregrass counties.
