ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — At Tuesday’s meeting, Henry County Commissioner’s approved a budget for the 2021-2022 fiscal year with one change that will benefit all county employees.
The revised budget will provide a raise to county employees’ salaries by 4% and will offer an additional 2% annual anniversary raise.
The commission chairman says this raise is essential in efforts to retain staff.
“We have to really be mindful of county funds and not over do it, but you put a lot of work into training an employee and you really want that employee to stay until they are ready to retire,” Henry County Commission Chairman, David Money said. “So that’s why the emphases on especially entry level salaries.”
Money says he hopes with this raise will help Henry County recruit more employees in the future.
