Houston County Commission approves lease for mobile vaccination vehicle

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Earlier this year, the Houston County Commission received a grant to purchase a mobile vaccination unit.

That mobile unit will serve as a health clinic on wheels as it goes out into the community to administer the COVID-19 vaccine.

This morning, the Houston County Commission approved a lease with the Alabama Department of Public Health that will operate the vehicle.

Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver said the county wants to do all it can to help stop the virus that is taking and affecting people’s lives.

“The vehicle we hope will be here by the end of the month. We’re gonna meet with the health department and set up all the logistics about how it goes and to where and the determination of all that,” Culver said.

Culver said the first step is to bring the vehicle to the Houston County Administration Building and other county facilities. The mobile unit also will be beneficial for flu shots and other medical needs in the county.
