HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Monday will be the first day of work for Houston County EMA Director Mark Powell.

The former Dothan Fire captain was offered the job last month by the Houston County Commission. Powell has served the community for 20 years with the Dothan Fire Department and now he’s excited to serve on a larger scale.

He will replace former EMA Director Chris Judah, who was forced to resign after he ignored orders from Houston County Commission Chairman Brandon Shoupe to fire one of his employees, Jesse Taylor a former firefighter accused of stealing fentanyl from his fire station.
