DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan officials are investigating an early morning house fire that claimed the life of a dog.

Dothan Fire Department responded to a call on the 2000 block of Charlton Drive in Dothan, that a residence was engulfed in flames.

Once on the scene, Dothan Fire confirmed that the home was in flames, but officials say they had the fire under control in less than an hour.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported at this time.

Fire officials confirm that one of the dogs was not accounted for and officials say it is too early in the investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

Dothan Fire officials are currently interviewing those involved, trying to figure out what caused the fire.

This is a part of a usual fire investigation.
