DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Kelly Services held a hiring event for all area schools to fulfill the ongoing nationwide teacher shortage caused mainly by the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are with openings at each area school system for substitute teachers, substitute custodians, and cafeteria workers.
Candidates were not required to have teaching experience but must have a high school diploma or GED, and if hired will be required to get a background check, and apply for a substitute license.
Stephanie Martin said over 20 candidates battled the rain to fill out an application.
“We are in need of needing more subs in all of the fields the way the sicknesses are running cold and flu season coming up,” Martin said. “We chose to have this event now so when they get back from the holidays, we’ll be full and hopefully have a lot of numbers to be able to fill those needs.”
If you couldn’t attend today’s hiring fair, Martin said you can give Kelly Services a call or visit their website because most of the hiring process is virtual.
