DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — After longtime director William Holman resigned at the end of 2018, the Landmark Park board of directors began a nationwide search for a new executive director. As of the end of July, they found one and they didn’t have to look far.
Laura Stakelum has been with the park for over a decade. Stakelum was officially confirmed as the new executive director after serving as the interim director for seven months.
Stakelum wants to work on maintaining the park and acquire more community involvement in park events.
“Maintenance is going to be big to make the park safe. Make it more aesthetically appealing. Just going through and making sure everything is up to good safety codes,” Stakelum said. ” We would like to add more events. What would you like to see at Landmark Park? What would you like to present at Landmark Park? We are really a community facility and I want to hear more from the community about what they would like to see here.”
Speaking of events, the first-ever education festival will take place on Saturday. For more information, you can check them out at landmarkparkdothan.com
