DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Houston County School administrators learned what to do in the event of an active shooter situation Thursday morning.

Lieutenant Robert Hopkins with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office presented a “Run, Hide, and Fight” lecture — giving options about what to do if you are ever in that situation.

Hopkins said it’s important to be vigilant and to know how to safeguard yourself — because you’re on your own in a school, restaurant, church, or wherever you may be — until law enforcement arrives.

If your school or business would like to go through active shooter training or demonstrations — contact the Houston County Sheriffs’ Office.
