Level Plains community cleanup considered a success

Local News

LEVEL PLAINS, Ala. (WDHN) — One Wiregrass city is helping its residents to spruce up and clean up.

Over the weekend, the city of Level Plains had placed four large dumpsters near the city hall available only for residents to use.

Those dropping off tree limbs, along with ‘white goods’ such as old washing machines and refrigerators had to have a recent water bill showing that they are residents in Level Plains.

Police Chief ‘Johnny Boy’ Summers says the town council wants to remove vehicles on blocks and other public blight.

Through a nuisance ordinance, city officials plan to start a crackdown on those residents whose properties create a ‘public eyesore’ for their neighbors.
