DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — LifeSouth Community Blood Center is partnering with Ozark law enforcement to help address the ’emergency need’ for blood.

Ozark Police and Ozark Fire will challenge each other in “Guns and Hoses” to see which department can bring in the most units of blood.

Right now, LifeSouth is in dire need of all blood types which tends to be the case during the summer when schools are out and people are vacationing — but unfortunately, that’s also when more accidents happen.

That’s why LifeSouth has to work harder than usual by holding collaborative events to help restock shelves for local hospitals in the Wiregrass area.

“We try to get 20 donors every day, every day we try to get 20 but the more the merrier the sky is the limit we’ll be there to 5 taking blood all day,” said mobile team supervisor, Hope Groomes.

The event will take place at the Ozark Police department between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m on Friday. They are anticipating a great turnout and they hope to make this first-time event an annual one.
