CLAYHATCHEE, Ala. (WDHN) — The sound of the 19th-century could be heard ringing across rural, southern Dale County over the weekend.
For the first time in several years, the bell in the ‘Old Providence’ chapel in Clayhatchee rang out. It was a time for parishioners and friends to celebrate their shared heritage.
The church was built in 1887 and restored to its original luster a few years ago.
For longtime congregation members, the ringing of the bell is a chance to share fellowship.
And the ringing of the historic bell welcomed friends from near and far with a homecoming at the church, as folks there shared a covered dish lunch with Easter one week away.
