NEW BROCKTON, Ala. (WDHN) — The Coffee County Commission received good news in regard to the repaving of local roadways.
The county engineer says work is planned in 2023 for ten roadways totaling just under 30 miles. The cost is projected to be 5 million-235 thousand dollars.
Besides using local gasoline taxes, the engineer says outgoing State Senator Jimmy Holley also was able to direct funds to his native county
Several years ago, the Alabama Legislature passed a gradual increase in the gas tax to be spent specifically for repaving local roads many of which haven’t seen improvements in the last 50 years.
