GENEVA CO., Ala. (WDHN)—Geneva County investigators continue to sort through several stories
given by a woman who allegedly shot her son in the leg.
The suspect reportedly used a shotgun to shoot him.
Initially, Linda Bass told authorities that she shot her son who is in his
mid-20s for driving her vehicle without permission.
Geneva County Sheriff Tony Helms says she would then change that story several times.
Helms says now Bass says she shot the victim in fear of her own safety.
Bass is charged with first-degree assault.
Although he was actually shot just once, Sheriff Helms says there were several shell casings that show she shot “at” her son multiple times.
He has now been released from an area hospital.
