SAMSON, ALA. (WDHN)— In western Geneva County, a holiday tradition continues in helping the less fortunate.

Samson Pastor James Ruttlen purchased the food for the fourth straight year, prepared it, and helped dish it out to the community.

The pastor was recently the reappointed chairman of the Geneva County NAACP chapter. Ruttlen says the need for food and essential resources is great in his hometown.

He and his church congregation helped feed around 100 people for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Reverend Ruttlen and his congregation are already planning a Christmas meal and children’s party for the less fortunate across western Geneva County. The exact date has not yet been set.
