Geneva/Dale District Attorney Kirk Adams says the four-vehicle wreck south of Hartford which claimed
the life of a Holmes County woman remains under investigation.
On June 30th, Barbara Joyce Spears was stopped within a construction zone at the time of the “crash”.
Spears’ car was hit from behind by a pickup truck driven by a juvenile. The impact forced Spears’ vehicle into the rear of a third vehicle,
and that collision caused a fourth vehicle to be hit.
Seventy-year-old Spears of Westville, Florida died at the scene.
Adams says the investigation is ongoing, and he’s waiting on the final report by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s” Highway Patrol Division” before deciding whether any charges will be filed.
“That case is being investigated by ALEA and one thing I will say about them is that they are through, they will take their time.
Their job is to gather the facts as what they are. And once they do so, they’ll turn over those facts to our office,” according to Adams.
Adams says it may be a few more weeks before he receives a final report on the fatal crash from the state.
