Abbeville PD traffic stop results in drug bust, seizes $50,000 worth of multiple drugs

ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — Abbeville Police Department reported that a drug bust occurred Sunday during a traffic stop on Highway 431.

According to their Facebook post, 486 grams of suspected cocaine were confiscated, as well as over 1,400 grams of suspected marijuana and suspected oxycodone. The police department is saying all this has a street value of $50,000.

Leighton Jerrell Taylor, 31, of Dothan was charged with 2 counts of drug trafficking, tampering with physical evidence, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Taylor was booked into the Henry County Jail with bonds totaling over $400,000 thousand dollars.

Abbeville Police Department, Chief Eric Blankenship stated, “The Abbeville Police Department is going to continue to take a proactive approach to keep drugs off of the streets and out of the hands of our youth.”
