DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — An fire producing heavy smoke at a possible abandoned building in Dothan has led to a response from Dothan fire units.
The fire started at the intersection of East Newton Steet and Flowers Lane around 6 p.m. The flames have died down and the fire has since been controlled, according to a WDHN reporter on the scene.
Initial emergency alerts suggest that the fire may have been caused by arson, however, that has not been confirmed.
Eyewitnesses say that no one has owned the home in years. One woman says her dog may have been inside during the fire.
The Dothan Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire now. More details on the fire will likely be released in the coming days.
