DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan police were called to the 200 block of Westmont Drive Tuesday after two young children were reportedly left home alone.
At the home, police say that the two children were by themselves and both had consumed over-the-counter medication.
Shortly after, the homeowner, 65-year-old Terry Lee Sims returned to the house from running errands. There he told police that he knew the narcotics were there and the medication was in reach of the children.
Both children were taken to a local hospital for an evaluation and both have since been released.
Sims has been charged with two counts of chemical endangerment of a child with a bond set at $5,000. Additional charges may follow during an investigation.
Sims was released on bond from the Houston County Jail Wednesday afternoon.
