CAMPBELLTON, Fla. (WDHN) — On Tuesday, Alabama residents could be seen running to the Florida border, for tickets for a chance to win $1.55 billion.
Steady crowds filled the inside of Lotto Discount Liquor in Campbellton, Florida to buy Mega-Millions tickets.
The next drawing is at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8.
The last time somebody won the grand prize was back in April and there have been 30 drawings since. Officials say that the chances of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302.6 million.
However, that didn’t stop residents this afternoon as each ticket offers a chance to win and live the dream.
“Just out buying a lottery ticket on my lunchtime today. It’s one point 5-5 billion dollars. Somebody’s gotta win,” says Kirkland.
Kirkland says that if he were to win the mega millions on Tuesday, he would try and give half of it away.
